The intervention is aimed at improving healthcare services, with a focus on maternal and child health across the state.
The Federal Government has supplied medical equipment, essential medicines, ambulances, and maternal healthcare supplies valued at about ₦10 billion to health facilities in Bauchi State.
The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Pate, officially launched the distribution exercise on Saturday, describing the intervention as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare delivery and strengthen maternal, newborn and child health services.
According to the minister, the support package includes free maternity kits for pregnant women, sexual and reproductive health commodities, and a wide range of medical equipment for hospitals and primary healthcare centres.

General hospitals and 20 primary healthcare centres across the state will receive critical medical equipment, while another 20 health facilities located in different local government areas will be supplied with essential medicines and other healthcare commodities.
The equipment includes labour and delivery instruments, theatre facilities for caesarean procedures, neonatal intensive care equipment, laboratory tools for maternity care, oxygen systems and blood pressure monitors.
The Federal Government also provided 15 tricycle ambulances, six standard ambulances, and 17,000 maternity kits to support healthcare services, particularly for expectant mothers.
Mr Pate said the intervention aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and reflects the administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare for vulnerable populations. He noted that more than 45 million Nigerians currently access healthcare services every quarter through continued investments in primary healthcare infrastructure, medical equipment, essential commodities and health workforce development.
The minister also highlighted ongoing healthcare projects in Bauchi State, including the upgrade of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Azare, the establishment of the North-East Vesicovaginal Fistula Centre in Ningi, and the expansion of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital. He added that the Federal and Bauchi State governments are jointly constructing and revitalising 100 primary healthcare centres across the state.
Mr Pate commended the Bauchi State Government, traditional institutions and healthcare workers for their contributions toward improving healthcare delivery.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Bala Mohammed, Deputy Governor Auwal Jatau welcomed the intervention, saying the ambulances and reproductive health commodities would strengthen the state’s efforts to reduce maternal illness and deaths, especially in rural communities. He assured that the equipment would be properly managed and effectively utilised.
The Chief Medical Director of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Yusuf Jibrin, also praised the Federal Government’s commitment to healthcare reform and expressed confidence that the newly supplied equipment would improve the quality of healthcare services across the state.
